Land clearing and forestry mulching for wooded lake lots, back lots and farm edges around Lake Mary and Lake Elizabeth.
Tell us about your Twin Lakes property — we’ll get right back to you.
Land clearing in Twin Lakes starts at the water. The village wraps around two lakes and both are big. Lake Elizabeth covers 725 acres and drops to 32 feet. Lake Mary covers 327 acres and drops to 33 feet. Together they put more than 1,000 acres of water inside Twin Lakes. Wooded lots and old resort ground sit around both lakes. Past the village, western Kenosha County is farm country with lakes set into glacial ground. The state line runs just south of town. On all of it, brush, saplings and buckthorn take the ground back where mowing stopped. Buckthorn leafs out early and holds its leaves late, so a woodlot here can close in fast.
Forestry mulching is the tool for most of it. A purpose-built mulcher grinds brush, saplings and small to mid trees where they stand. The chips stay on the ground as cover. Larger trees get cut and cleared first. That suits a lake lot, where the working room between the house and the water is thin. See what a mulched lot looks like the day we finish. We also handle brush clearing, lot clearing, stump grinding and buckthorn removal. Bush hogging keeps field and pasture ground open, and rough grading follows once the wood is off. That work runs out through the Town of Randall to Bassett and Powers Lake. It goes north into the Town of Wheatland at New Munster.
Calls here fall into a few shapes. A family on Lake Mary or Lake Elizabeth wants the shore opened up and the understory cut back. A builder has a wooded lot in the village and needs it cleared to the stakes. A landowner out toward Bassett has a back forty that went to buckthorn and honeysuckle after the cows left. All three start the same way. We come out, look at what is standing with you, and price the job off that. The estimate is free and it happens on site. The same holds for the ground we clear around Lake Geneva to the west.

Kenosha County Which rulebook covers you depends on the address. Lake Mary and Lake Elizabeth sit inside the Village of Twin Lakes, so village zoning runs the shore. The village code has its own shoreland-wetland chapter. Powers Lake and the shorelines out in Randall and Wheatland fall under county shoreland zoning instead. On the Kenosha County side, the ordinance protects a vegetative buffer at least 35 feet in from the ordinary high water mark. It still allows an access and viewing corridor, and it allows taking out invasive species, with replanting. Our guide to which clearing jobs in Wisconsin need a permit first has the details. Off the water, much of the farm ground in this corner of the Fox River watershed has been tiled and ditched. That ground was tiled because it holds water, so timing matters more than horsepower. Mulch left on the ground holds loose soil in place and keeps sediment out of the lakes. In the oak woods of western Kenosha County, buckthorn and bush honeysuckle push into the understory. Both come back from the root after a cut, so we plan a return pass.
