Land Clearing in Burlington, Wisconsin

Your Local Burlington Land Clearing & Forestry Mulching Crew

Proper Grounds handles land clearing in Burlington, and the ground here changes fast. Burlington sits where the White River meets the Fox River. Honey Creek comes into the White River there as well. Around town, most of the land is still farm fields and woodlots. West of the Fox the soil is sandy outwash. East of it the ground is heavier till, with more clay and silt. That difference shows in wet spots, in what holds a machine, and in what grows back. Old pasture and fence lines fill in with brush. Buckthorn and bush honeysuckle crowd the oak woods in this part of Racine County.

Forestry mulching is the tool for most of it. The mulcher grinds brush, saplings and small to mid size trees in one pass. The mulch stays where it falls. Bigger trees get cut and cleared first so the machine can keep moving. That is how our forestry mulching leaves the ground when the job is done. We work the Town of Burlington, Bohners Lake and Browns Lake. We go north to Rochester and Waterford, east to Kansasville, and west to Lyons. Stump grinding, brush clearing, lot clearing, buckthorn removal, bush hogging and rough grading round out the work.

Calls here come from a few places. A family on a Browns Lake or Bohners Lake lot wants the back half opened up again. A builder has a wooded lot in the Town of Burlington or out past Kansasville. It has to be cleared before the footings go in. A landowner along the White River State Trail corridor has fence lines and old pasture gone to brush. We are family owned and come over from Walworth County, the same county as our Lake Geneva clearing work. Every job starts with a free on-site estimate, and the price-match guarantee stands behind the number.

Clearing Built for Burlington Property

Clearing near Burlington is a ground question first. West of the Fox River the sand and outwash dries out fast and carries a machine most of the year. East of the river the till holds water, and a wet spring can push a job back a few weeks. The Fox runs flashy here. It carries the whole watershed above town, and the banks erode. We keep the mulcher back from the edge and leave root mass in place. Low ground along Honey Creek and the marshes gets worked frozen or dry. Racine County shoreland rules apply outside city and village limits. They set a vegetative buffer 35 feet in from the ordinary high water mark. Inside that strip you get an access and viewing corridor, up to 35 feet per 100 feet of frontage. Removing invasive brush is allowed too, and what comes out has to be replanted. In these oak woods that is usually buckthorn or bush honeysuckle. The way we take buckthorn out decides whether it comes back.

FAQ

Burlington Land Clearing — Common Questions

Questions about land clearing or forestry mulching in Burlington? Here are the ones we hear most — and we’re glad to talk through yours.

Call 262-249-6360

What does land clearing cost in Burlington?
Price comes down to acreage, stem size, how thick the growth is, and how the machine gets in. A half acre of buckthorn behind a Browns Lake house prices differently than five acres of overgrown pasture. Our Wisconsin cost per acre guide covers the ranges, and the on-site estimate gives you a firm number.
Can I clear along the water at Bohners Lake or Browns Lake?
Part of it, yes. The rest needs county sign off. Outside city and village limits, Racine County protects the first 35 feet in from the ordinary high water mark. A viewing corridor and invasive brush removal are allowed there. Anything more takes a county permit and an approved plan. Our Wisconsin land clearing permit guide explains it. Check with the county, or the city inside Burlington.
Can you clear a wooded building lot in the Town of Burlington?
Yes. Lot clearing on a wooded parcel starts at the build area and the drive. We mulch the understory and the small to mid size stems, then grind the stumps inside the footprint. Rough grading follows when the site calls for it. We run the same job in Rochester, Waterford and the Town of Dover, and south down the Fox around the Kenosha County lake lots at Twin Lakes.
What exactly do you do on a Burlington job?
We clear land with a forestry mulcher. Brush, saplings and small to mid size trees get ground down. Everything we grind stays on the property as cover. Grinding out the stumps afterward is part of the work when you want that ground usable. We are a land clearing company, not a tree service for large standing trees. We leave the mulch instead of hauling debris.
How far around Burlington do you travel?
Roughly an hour out, which covers Waterford, Rochester, Kansasville, Wind Lake and Lyons. We also run west to Lake Geneva and northwest to the clearing we do around East Troy. Call 262-249-6360 or send the address and rough acreage, and we will set up the free on-site estimate.
